1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the OneWell Zakat Calculator (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. The Service is currently available on an invite-only basis. You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
The OneWell Zakat Calculator is an educational tool that helps users estimate their Zakat obligations across up to 10 asset categories, including cash, stocks, retirement accounts, private equity, equity compensation, real estate, and more. The calculator applies scholar-reviewed methodologies based on recognized Islamic finance standards.
3. Not Financial, Tax, or Legal Advice
The Service is provided for educational and informational purposes only. Nothing contained in the Service constitutes financial, tax, legal, or investment advice. No advisor-client, attorney-client, or fiduciary relationship is created by your use of the Service. You should consult qualified professionals for advice specific to your situation.
4. Not a Fatwa or Religious Ruling
The calculations and guidance provided by the Service are based on recognized Islamic finance standards, including AAOIFI Standard 35, and methodologies developed by scholars such as Mufti Faraz Adam and Joe Bradford. However, the Service does not issue fatwas or binding religious rulings. Users are encouraged to consult a qualified Islamic scholar for rulings specific to their circumstances.
5. Accuracy & Limitations
All calculations produced by the Service are estimates only. Market data, asset valuations, and other financial information used in calculations may be delayed, incomplete, or subject to change. OneWell does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any information provided through the Service.
6. User Responsibilities
You are responsible for providing accurate and complete information when using the Service. You acknowledge that the quality of calculations depends on the accuracy of the data you provide. You should independently verify all calculations with qualified professionals before making any financial or religious decisions.
7. Privacy & Your Data
Your privacy is important to us. The Service is designed with a privacy-first approach:
- Browser-only storage: All financial data you enter is stored exclusively in your browser’s local storage. OneWell does not transmit or store your financial data on any server.
- Plaid integration: If you choose to connect financial accounts via Plaid, account data is fetched and immediately discarded after processing. OneWell does not retain Plaid access tokens or account data on its servers.
- AI assistant: Conversations with the Wali AI assistant may be processed by third-party AI providers. Do not share sensitive personal information (such as account numbers or Social Security numbers) in chat conversations.
- No tracking cookies: The Service does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
8. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with third-party providers including Plaid (for financial account connectivity), AI providers (for the Wali assistant), and market data APIs (for asset valuations). Your use of these integrations is subject to the respective third-party terms and privacy policies, including Plaid’s End User Privacy Policy. OneWell is not responsible for the practices of third-party service providers.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. ONEWELL DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ONEWELL AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. IN NO EVENT SHALL ONEWELL’S TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100).
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless OneWell and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.
12. Changes to Terms
OneWell reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will indicate the date of the most recent revision at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
